I read an article recently about some people who try eating foods that were grown locally in their area wanted. Local meant within a radius of 100 kilometres. She encouraged the support of farmers and farmer's markets, suggesting that local grocery stores and restaurants support also by direct purchasing.
There are several reasons why this is a great idea. One, the food is much frischer-and potentially nutritious. Secondly, it will be cheaper that transport costs are significantly reduced. Thirdly, supports local economies. Fourthly, the use of questionable pesticides and chemicals of less is a problem. DDT remember someone? This stuff still use some countries around the world.
I think that we have this a big step further. Rush gardens. Who came with the idea that grass is the standard product, which we our floor around our houses with interface should? Sure, it can pretty much if well maintained... useful to play games as a surface, etc. Unless it course, fire ants infiltrate it your formerly beautiful lawn.
I'm not saying that everyone should do, but certainly a fair number of people could be part or all of their front and backyards to herbs and vegetables gardens, plants, fruit trees, etc.. Preferably plants stuff that fits their environment. And for those who say grass is easier to administer, while food crops take more maintenance, I say there is a chance for a new labour market or extending an existing.
Lawn-care company that grass can mow usually people expanded crop harvest - area on the surface, but one that related one off and would require continuing education. Those who learn these skills would be valuable and as their incomes increase.
New housing tracts of land could allocate a lot or two for a park slash garden for the neighborhood, and still have all of the individual houses status quo with their stupid grass lawn. But I see not this ever those happens greed maximize their profit per hectare with every developer but with motives, the world a better place through. However, a forward thinking developers could see how it would create a premium product in a market that the loss would offset revenue on a lot.
We must start our way of life in America in question and decide whether some of the ways that we could have done things better not made. Like lawn gardens. Ernst.
